The Red Sox Third Year Rise

Woe the Boston Red Sox. People's hopes and dreams shattered; heartbroken boys whose first game was the unfathomable loss to the sweep at the hands of The Angels; Papelbon's perfect 0.0 post-season ERA destroyed.

This was meant to be. The Red Sox were a good team this year. At times they were the best; on paper, they should have won the World Series. Unfortunately they have an every-third-year cycle going on now for winning the World Series, and we'll all have to wait until October of 2010 for them to win it. It won't matter what Tito does or Shaughnessy writes; what's in the cards is in the cards. 2004, 2007, then 2010.

Here's to a good year of baseball, and, more importantly, here's to a better one next year.
