Vikings Hockey to Play Marblehead at Historic Fenway Park!
Winthrop High School head hockey coach Dale Dunbar announced recently that the Winthrop Vikings tentatively will play Marblehead on the ice at Fenway Park on Saturday, January 9th. "We're very excited at the prospect of it," said Dunbar.
The game is scheduled for a 5:15pm start. WCAT will be there recording it along with the winter 'Voice of the Vikings' Al Petrilli calling the play by play.
The Viking Pride Foundation will provide fan transportation to Fenway this Saturday, to watch the Vikings take on the Marblehead Magicians. The buses will depart Winthrop High School at 4:00pm for a round trip cost of $10.00. Transportation is free for WPS students and Viking Pride members who have paid their membership after September of 2009. The bus will leave Fenway Park 20 minutes after the conclusion of the event. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. The Viking Pride Foundation is not taking attendance before departing Fenway. Those who are not on the bus within 20 minutes after the conclusion of the game will be responsible for their own return transportation.
To reserve your space, sign up sheets are available in the main office of WHS or you may email your name, guests' names and telephone number to board@vikingpride.org. Reservations must be made by Friday January 8th at noon. Due to the many variables of this event being conducted at Fenway Park, please check www.vikingpride.org on Saturday morning to ensure it is still going to be played.
The game will most likely be two 15 minute stop periods of play, with the third period consisting of the remaining ice time available in running time. Admission to the game is free! Come see the ice at Fenway and support the Vikings at the same time!
