All Town Beaches Except Yirrell Beach Are Open

At 1:55 pm, September 3, 2009, the Winthrop Board of Health received the Beach test results from G&L Laboratories. All of the Winthrop Beaches except Yirrell Beach are well below the state standards and are reopened as of September 3, 2009.


Flood Insurance Rate Map Changes

On September 25th, 2009, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) new Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) will become effective for the Town of Winthrop.


Landing Under Full Construction Tuesday 9/8

The Winthrop Public Landing will be under full construction Tuesday, September 8. The Harbormaster requests that all vehicles be removed from the Landing by Monday, September 9, at 11:00 PM.


Council Votes to Increase Meals, Hotel/Motel Tax

Winthrop's municipal council voted July 28 to adopt a .75 percent meals tax and to increase its hotel/motel tax to the new maximum rate of 6 percent.


All Town Beaches Closed Due to High Bacteria Counts

As of August 20, 2009, all of Winthrop's beaches are closed due to high bacteria counts in the oceans. They're scheduled to be retested today, Monday, August 24, in the morning.


Water & Sewer Infrastructure Informational Meeting

The Town of Winthrop is holding an Informational Meeting regarding the upcoming Water & Sewer Infrastructure Project on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 7:30pm at the Winthrop Public Library in the Hazlett Hearing Room.
