MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28
11:47 AM: Officers Scorzella and
Crisafi responded to a report of a
domestic disturbance. They deter-
mined it was a verbal disagreement
only and restored the peace.
1:26 PM: Officers responded to
a report of a serious MVA at 432
Revere St. in which a MV struck a
utility pole. The operator was trans-
ported to the hospital.
1:53 PM: Off. M. Delehanty
stopped a MV on Revere St. and
issued a citation to the operator for
making a right turn on red where it is
prohibited.
2:57 PM: A retired State Trooper
reported that he had just observed
a MV spin its tires on Sturgis St.,
turn left onto Shore Drive, then do
a 360 and drive down Shore Drive
to Revere St., at a speed of 45-50
m.p.h. A Winthrop officer will issue a
citation to the operator for the appro-
priate CMVIs based on the witness’s
observations.
3:58 PM: A resident reported that
her great granddaughter had been
using her MV and that the handi-
capped placard was stolen from it.
4:24 PM: An official from Logan
Airport reported that a kite being
flown on Bayview Ave. was a hin-
drance to landing aircraft. An officer
responded and located a kite on the
ground in that area. The officer con-
fiscated the kite.
5:16 PM: Lieut. Scarpa stopped a
MV on Revere St. at Upland Road
and issued a citation to the operator
for the CMVI of speeding.
6:27 PM: Off. McCarthy stopped a
MV on Winthrop St. and issued a cita-
tion to the operator for a CMVI.
6:30 PM: Lieut. Scarpa arrested
the operator of a moped, Thomas A.
Guarino, 49, of 44 Hawthorne Ave.,
for operating a MV after his right
to operate had been suspended. The
lieutenant also cited Guarino for the
CMVIs of operating a MV on a one-
way street and a moped passenger
violation. The incident occurred on
Winthrop St.
7:04 PM: Officers responded to a
report of a person in the water off 85
Shore Drive calling for help. The mat-
ter was referred to the WFD, which
employed its rescue boat.
9:50 PM: Officers stopped a MV
on Shirley St. They arrested the oper-
ator, Brian Tivnan, 34, of 51 Otis St.,
on charges of unlicensed operation
of a MV and operating an uninsured
MV. Tivnan also was cited for the
CMVI of operating an unregistered
MV. The officers also arrested a pas-
senger, Christian Frederick Staples,
39, of 917 Shirley St., on two out-
standing warrants.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
8:49 AM:  Off. Scorzella stopped
a MV on Shore Drive upon receiv-
ing a report that it was speeding. He
issued a citation to the operator for the
CMVI of speeding.
11:28 AM: A DPW truck was
involved in a minor MVA with anoth-
er MV on Crest Ave.
1:08 PM: Off. Nestor stopped a
MV on Veterans Road and issued a
citation to the operator for the CMVI
of speeding.
1:16 PM: A 209A order was
received from the Lowell District
Court to be served on a local resident
named as the defendant.
 3:02 PM: Officers responded to
a call from a citizen regarding a
male party acting suspiciously in the
vicinity of 881 Shirley St. The offi-
cers arrested Scott Senn, 37, of 51
Willow Ave., on charges of malicious
destruction of property over $250
and attempting to commit a crime
(B&E).
3:48 PM: Off. McCarthy stopped
a MV on River Road and issued a
citation to the operator for the CMVI
of speeding.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
8:59 AM: Off. Crisafi stopped a
MV at the school zone at Revere St,
and Kennedy Road and issued a cita-
tion to the operator for the CMVI of
failing to stop upon her direction at
the school crossing.
9:15 AM: A Sagamore Ave. resi-
dent reported a B&E into his home
the night before and that cash was
taken from his wallet.
12:46 PM: Officers responded to a
report of a domestic disturbance. They
arrested Dennis Michael McNulty,
44, of 26 Beacon St., on charges of
assault, violation of a 209A order,
making a threat to commit a crime,
and disorderly conduct.
3:48 PM: A 209 order was received
from the Malden District Court to be
served upon a local resident named as
the defendant.
6:16 PM: Off. McCarthy was
flagged down by a citizen on Pond St.
whom showed the officer evidence
of fresh graffiti in the nearby play-
ground.
7:45 PM: Off. Bonavita stopped
a MV in the Centre when a check
with the RMV computer showed that
the MV registration plate had been
cancelled effective January 18, 2008. 
He cited the operator for the crimi-
nal violations of attaching plates and
operating an uninsured MV. The MVwas ordered towed.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1
8:33 AM: A Siren St. resident
reported that a neighbor had trapped a
skunk and it had been in the trap for a
few days. The matter was referred to
the ACO who will direct the neighbor
to release the skunk.
9:09 AM: The manager of the
Pillar House Apartments on Walden
St. reported the theft of several air
conditioners from an unsecured stor-
age shed.
1:09 PM: A 209A order was
received from the E.B. District Court
to be served upon a local resident
named as the defendant.
1:34 PM: Officers responded to a
report of a pedestrian struck by a MV
in the area of 385 Winthrop St.
2:50 PM: Officers arrested Larry
Alfaro, 44, of 281 River Road, on a
fugitive from justice warrant issued
out of Cold Spring, Texas.
2:53 PM: Off. Curran assisted the
parties with the exchange of a papers
at a minor MVA in which a dump
truck struck a parked MV on Vine
Ave.
3:06 PM: A report of a small white
dog running around at Revere St.
and Summit Ave. was referred to the
ACO.
3:25 PM: A report of a person
scraping off lead paint from his prem-
ises on Strand Way without the prop-
er precautions was referred to the
Building Inspector.
6:52 PM: Officers arrested a 16-
year-old juvenile on a charge of tres-
passing. The youth had been given a
No Trespass order to stay away from
Gov. Drive and he was in the basket-
ball court area.
7:26 PM: A caller reported that his
driver’s side window had been shot
out as he drove on Crest Ave. An offi-
cer was unable to determine the cause
of the incident.
8:41 PM: Officers responded to
a report of a family domestic distur-
bance. The officers determined that
the incident was a verbal one only
and, after spending some time with
family members, restored the peace.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2
1:03 AM: A caller reported that she
had just kicked her boyfriend out of
her residence and she in turn kicked
in a basement window. However, she
did not want to press charges at this
time.
5:00 AM: A resident in the 500
block of Shirley St. reported that a
window in his MV had been smashed
overnight.
8:16 AM: Officers responded to a
MVA on Gov. Drive. One MV was
towed.
11:14 AM: A Sagamore Ave. resi-
dent reported that a rent check pay-
ment had been stolen from her mail-
box. She already had put a stop pay-
ment on the check with her bank.
12:47 PM: A Plummer Ave. resi-
dent reported that two dogs in the
neighborhood bark all day long. The
matter was referred to the ACO.
2:30 PM: A Belcher St. resident
reported the theft of some jewelry.
5:42 PM: A Seal Harbor resident
reported that her MV had been struck
and damaged by a hit and run MV
while hers was parked in the Seal
Harbor lot.
6:31 PM: Officers responded to
a report of a domestic disturbance.
They arrested Jessica Marie Smith,
18, of 131 Bartlett Road.
8:40 PM: Officers placed a 17-
year-old Winthrop youth who had
been at Miller Field into protective
custody.
11:35 PM: Off. Brown stopped
a MV with three juvenile females
who had egged another MV. All three
juveniles were brought home to their
parents.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3
10:56 AM: A River rd. resident
reported sewage backing up into her
basement.
11:22 AM: Off. MacFarland
stopped a MV on Main St. at the
Dunkin’ Donuts and issued a citation
to the operator for a CMVI.
11:50 AM: A resident in the 300
block of Shirley St. reported that glass
in a side view mirror of his MV had
been shattered during the night.
5:08 PM: All units were dispatched
to a MVA at Bartlett rd. and Pleasant
St. involving three MVs. One MV was
towed. No injuries were reported.
7:33 PM: Officers assisted the
parties at a fender bender MVA at
Hermon and Main streets. One MV
was towed.
8:30 PM: Officers dispersed a large
group of youths who had congregated
at the bus stop on Revere St. at Gov.
Drive.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4
1:11 AM: An officer responded to
a report of three females arguing out-
side of a Marshall St. residence. The
officer ordered them to take it inside
for the night.
1:33 AM: A Nahant Ave. resi-
dent reported that a youth had just
taken some lawn ornaments from a
home across the street and drove off.
Officers responded and contacted the
youth’s father, who will return the
ornaments.
10:34 PM: A Winthrop St. resident
reported that a neighbor’s dogs had
been outside and barking all day long.
Off. Shea responded and reported that
the dogs were back in the house.
5:22 PM: Officers arrested
Christian Frederick Staples, 39, of
917 Shirley St., on an outstanding
warrant that had been issued by the
Peabody District Court.
5:35 PM: Officers arrested Robert
John Smith, 47, of 131 Bartlett Road,
on an outstanding warrant that had
been issued by the Boston Municipal
Court.
9:34 PM: A MV that crashed into
a utility pole in the vicinity of 44
Highland Ave. was ordered towed.
