Winthrop Aerial Photography Exhibit
Winthrop, Massachusetts, 9/24/09 - John Munson of Beacon Photography has released an amazing new collection of aerial photographs of Winthrop. Flying in a small 2-person plane on a perfect summer day on July 10th, Munson shot well over 150 photos of Winthrop, many from angles never seen before, all of which showcase Winthrop as the beautiful coastal town it is.
There are a few images of each yacht club, all of which are in sharp detail. There are also a few of the water tower and cottage hill with Boston's skyline in the background, depicting how close we are to the city. There are at least a half-dozen images of Seal Harbor, which also captures the proximity to the city, as the Boston skyline looms in the background. There are also a few of Point Shirley, Yirrell Beach, Winthrop Beach, and many more never seen before images of Winthrop.
John Munson is the owner and photographer of Beacon Photography, located in Winthrop Center. His studio and gallery has been open one and a half years, offering Winthrop photos and a variety of photography services. Munson frequently donates his photos or services to local causes, including the photos that decorate the lamp post banners from Town Hall to Magee's Corner, all the way to Crest Avenue.
When asked about taking these aerial photos, Munson said, "What an experience! It was definitely the most exhilarating photography assignment I've ever had." Munson also mentioned many customers are raving about this collection, partly because they can clearly see their homes or boats in them. One customer, a past resident of Winthrop, recently said, "Having left Winthrop back in 1972, you have brought many memories back to me." Another customer who saw the Winthrop Aerial screen saver said, "These are simply amazing!"
This Winthrop aerial collection can be seen at Beacon Photography's web site at www.BeaconPhotos.com or you can attend the Winthrop Aerial Photography exhibit at Beacon Photography, on Friday, October 2nd from 5 to 8pm. There will be a slideshow and refreshments. The studio gallery is located at 74 Jefferson Street, in Winthrop Center.
