Drawing of Jesus Prompts Psychological Evaluation

Taunton Crucifix

An eight year old boy in Taunton, "The Christmas City", drew a picture of Jesus on the cross when the teacher asked his students to sketch something that reminded them of Christmas. The teacher found the drawing too violent, sent the child home from school, and ordered a psychological evaluation. The teacher became upset, according to the student's father, when the child said he drew himself on the cross. His name was written above the drawing.

Of course, the evaluation found nothing wrong with the boy, and he was allowed to return to school. How clueless can a teacher be? The crucifixion is, of course, violent. Nothing about the drawing worries me at all, so why this teacher?

The student could even teach a few lessons, as he understands Christmas is about Christ.

Seems the teacher owes the student and his father an apology, and maybe someone should send the teacher off for a psych evaluation.
